Four days after the postponement, the CROUS/Z management has set the date: students can return to their rooms from dinner on Thursday 8 October 2026. What statement no. 001102 says, what to present to collect your key, and what is still unknown.
The date came on Tuesday 6 October. In statement no. 001102, the CROUS Ziguinchor management announces the official reopening of the Ziguinchor and Kolda social campuses on Thursday 8 October 2026 at dinner. It ends four days of uncertainty opened by the postponement of 2 October.

What the statement says
The text runs to four paragraphs. The first sets the date: “Thursday 8 October 2026 at dinner”. The second invites “all students” to return to their rooms on that date, “respecting the rules of collective life and the facilities provided, in line with the rules in force”.
The third paragraph is a practical reminder, already found in the 28 September statement: students who hold a bed “must pay the rent for October and December before collecting their key”. The fourth renews the management’s commitment to “working for the continuous improvement of housing conditions” and wishes everyone “an excellent start to the academic year”.
Collecting your key: how it works
The statement does not detail the procedure. As a reminder, the poster issued by the University Residences Division on 28 September said appointments are made with pavilion heads, and that two documents must be presented:
- the agreement;
- the rent receipts for October and December 2026.

The management has not republished a dedicated procedure for 8 October. If in doubt, the safest course is to contact your pavilion head, or to consult the Housing page of the site.
What is still unknown
The 2 October postponement had been justified by catering: the main restaurant’s operator not being in a position to open, a single restaurant, Diabir, remained available, with a capacity judged low. The 6 October statement says nothing on this point. It does not say whether the main restaurant will open, when, or how students will be served in the meantime. These questions remain open.
Welcome, “you are at home”
On reopening day, CROUS/Z published a welcome visual: “Welcome, everyone! Dear students, you are at home!”, under the hashtag #BonneRentrée, with a reminder of the services: university catering, university residences, medical and social care, cultural and sports life.
The context
This announcement closes a sequence opened on 2 October with the handover between Prof. Salif Baldé and Mr Ousmane Diallo, followed by the meeting with the Student Coordination. It is all summed up in our chronicle of the start of the year.
